Surfers Paradise is a coastal town and suburb in the Gold Coast City, Queensland, Australia. The Pacific Ocean's Coral Sea runs along its eastern border. The Nerang River runs through the suburb and exits at the suburb's most northerly edge, practically at the river's mouth, where it spills into Moreton Bay's southern end. Bundall Road runs through the south-west section of the suburb, which is a land on the river's western bank.
When James Beattie, a farmer, staked up an 80-acre (32 ha) farm on the northern bank of the Nerang River, he became the first European to settle in the area. The farm failed and was sold in 1877 to Johan Meyer, a German immigrant who turned the area into a sugar field and mill.
In 1917, Brisbane real estate developer Arthur Blackwood held a property auction to sell subdivided blocks in Elston as the "Surfers' Paradise Estate," but the auction failed due to restricted access. This was the first time the name Surfers Paradise was mentioned.
The part of Surfers Paradise east of Surfers Paradise Boulevard that stretches towards the beach is known for family-friendly attractions like Time Zone, Ripley's Believe It or Not museum, and Adrenalin Park.
Sling Shot and Vomatron attractions, as well as a mini-golf course, are featured at Adrenalin Park, a small amusement park.
The Surfers Paradise Foreshore, a rejuvenated public space that faces Surfers Paradise Beach and the Pacific Ocean, is located to the east of Surfers Paradise. It has modern seaside streetscapes with existing trees and vegetation, including 95 pandanus trees.
Surfers Paradise State School is a government primary school (Prep-6). It has a special education program as well as an intensive English language program.
Surfers Paradise does not have a government secondary school. Keebra Park State High School in neighboring Southport and Benowa State High School in Benowa are the closest government secondary schools.
