Kingsholme is a rural suburb in the Gold Coast City Council area of Queensland, Australia. It is about 43 kilometers from Brisbane's capital and has an area of 20.093 square kilometers. The suburb also lies east of Luscombe and Cedar Creek, with the Darlington Range to the west. The Pacific Motorway runs along a small portion of the locality's northern border.
Upper Ormeau was the old name for the suburb. James Murtha gave the place its name in 1869. He called his property Kingsholme after his hometown of County Cork, Ireland.
Alexander Thomson, a pioneering family of the area, immigrated from Scotland and arrived in Australia in 1889. The family name is linked to Thomson's Road, Kingsholme.
